Merrymakers began in June, 2000 with three founding members, Dan Thyng, Aaron Minnick, and June Speak. June moved to Arizona in December 2000 and Marsha Martin joined in December 2000. During the first years, the group played at various church services, art receptions, weddings and wedding receptions and with the Magpie Consort at thier Christmas concerts. Since these early years, Aaron Minnick left the group to join the Early Interval and was replaced by Mac Riedel. A few months later Gordon Shecket joined the group. Our quartet is often expaned to a quintet when Weldon Adams joins us.

The idea of an annual concert was conceived by Dan Thyng and initiated in
June, 2002. And though the concert was titled '1000 Years of Recorder Music' - it lasted about 60 minutes.

Since then, we have had an annual free 60 minute concert. followed by a
reception, in the Spring of every year. The concerts usually follow a nationality theme for the music and the Merrymakers are joined for the concerts by a string quartet, 4- 6 vocalists, and harpsichord. A listing of the past concerts is below:

2002 - One thousand years of recroder music
2003 - Drive the cold winter away (english)
